Although seemingly unrelated, the books are bridged through the common conceptual thread dealing with the different states of one goes through in life.

One & Ancestors, One & Society, Losing oneself, Learning oneself, Desire to Learn Beyond oneself: Each book deals with one aspect of this progression. Namely, Venezis’ “Aeolian Earth” describes finding one’s identity in relation to their ancestors, Bach’s “Jonathan Livingston Seagull” talks about the relationship with society, while Orwell’s “1984” deals with the concept of losing oneself in a totalitarian world. With “Siddhartha” Herman Hesse describes the journey of attempting to learn oneself, and finally, in “The Saviors of God,” Kazantzakis presents the desire to learn what is beyond, to reach self-actualization.
